The Trumbull Art Gallery is planning a celebration for both the opening of the 55th annual TAG exhibition and the completion of the TAG Underground.

The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2019, from 5-8 p.m.

The evening is set to include an opening reception for the annual juried art show, which runs through November 2, an open house of the TAG Underground and a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of the gallery's new accessible lift.

The lift project, which totaled over $35,000.00, and was paid for with grant funds and private donations, provides individuals who use wheelchairs and individuals who have difficulty navigating stairs access to the TAG Underground in the basement level of the gallery.

The TAG Underground houses the Clay@TAG studio, pottery wheels, a painting classroom, photography darkroom, and additional exhibit space.

This year's art show received 237 submissions from 103 artists and was judged by local artist, Gary Taneri.

Ninety pieces have been selected to be displayed in the upstairs gallery and an additional 77 that will be exhibited at the Nissen Gallery at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

Ceramic artist Shannon Marie Black, a graduate of Lakeview High School and Youngstown State University who earned her MFA in Ceramics from Kent State University earlier this year, will be featured in the TAG Underground Gallery.
