Police arrested a man with warrants for his arrest after he was accused of breaking into a home and causing damage to a woman's car.

Austintown police were called to the 80 block of North Raccoon Road after they received a call for a male damaging a woman's car.

That male was later identified as 28-year-old Kamani Johnson.

According to police, Johnson has several warrants out for his arrest for aggravated menacing and drug offenses. Johnson is also accused of shooting at his ex-girlfriend on July 4, resulting in the aggravated menacing charge.

The victim called the police and yelling about a black male in a red hoodie damaging her car and then running away down Oakwood Avenue with a backpack full of items.

When police arrived on Oakwood Avenue, they saw Johnson near the intersection of Oakwood and Avenue and Idlewood Road.

According to the report, when Johnson saw the officer, he threw his backpack down a nearby ravine and jumped the fence onto a property on Idlewood Road.

After witnesses pointed police in the right direction, they were advised to check a closed shed in the backyard of an Idlewood Road home.

While searching the shed, police noticed the feet of an unknown individual in the far corner covered by a mattress.

Police say that they told the unknown person to come out with their hands up. The unidentified person was identified as Johnson.

Johnson was then arrested and charged with burglary, breaking and entering, obstructing official business and criminal damaging.
