A 15-year-old Lakeview High School student accused of making a threat faces charges in juvenile court.

Cortland Police Chief David Morris tells 21 News that a parent told his officers about a potential threat made over electronic media on Thursday.

Morris would not elaborate on the nature of the threat but says the teen has been charged with inducing panic and telecommunications harassment.

Officers escorted the student from the school Thursday afternoon.

Lakeview Superintendent Velina Jo Taylor released the following statement:

"This matter was handled quickly with the well-being and safety of our students, staff, and community as a whole as our primary concern."
