The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley received a $20,000 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant thanks to efforts from Valley Allstate offices.

The grant was secured by 15 local Allstate agency owners, personal financial representatives, and staff.

The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley said that it would use the funding to further efforts to provide housing and create transition plans for those facing homelessness.

Volunteers helped earn the Allstate Foundation grants by serving food to those staying in the Rescue Mission's facilities and helping with cleanup projects around those facilities.

"Our Allstate volunteers see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing the communities they serve," said Andy Garza, Allstate Field Senior Vice President. "Giving back is core to who we are, which is why we care deeply about dedicating time to volunteer to help improve lives across Youngstown."

The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley is just one of the thousands of organizations that received Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grants this year.

Allstate reports that since its conception in 1952, The Allstate Foundation has contributed over $449 million to support community nonprofits and contributed more than $33 million in 2018 alone.
