Detectives believe body found in river near Perkins Park is missing teen
The Trumbull County Coroner is scheduled to conduct an autopsy today on the body of a male found in the Mahoning River in Warren.
Captain Massucci of the Warren Police Department tells 21 News, detectives believe the body pulled from the Mahoning River in Warren is a missing 17-year-old they have been looking for.
The Trumbull County Coroner conducted the autopsy on the body Thursday.
Officials said they know it's a white male and he did not die by homicide.
The coroner's office is not yet releasing the identity of the victim found floating next to a fallen tree in Perkins Park.
The body was discovered Tuesday night by a man who was at the park to take part in a softball game.
He flagged down police and led them to the body.
Detectives were called out, as well as members of the fire department who recovered the body from the river.
Police also found a backpack about 100 feet upriver from where the body was found.
