An alleged Hermitage Walmart thief evaded police through several counties Friday night.

The chase began around 6:30 p.m. in Hermitage after the man police say the man stole from Walmart.

Officers pursued the vehicle with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.

Mercer County dispatchers told 21 News that they followed the driver into Trumbull County before passing off the pursuit near the Brookfield area.

Officers were not able to keep up with the vehicle once the pursuit changed hands.

Around 7:40 p.m., a police presence was reported on South Avenue in Youngstown ending with the arrest of the man.

Youngstown police were on scene and transferred the man to a Weathersfield police cruiser.

Dispatchers say several people were placed in police cruisers at the scene.
