Presidents Day protest planned on border wall funding in downtown Warren

The federal holiday means no mail, no school, and no work for many in the Valley. But for some, it means the chance to make their voices heard.
One group, in particular, plans to take to the streets of downtown Warren on Monday for a protest on border wall funding.
A coalition of groups in the Mahoning Valley including the Mahoning/Trumbull Democratic County Women's Caucus, Jefferson Democratic Coalition and Valley Voice United for Change are sponsoring the rally.
According to event organizers, the rally will join others nationwide as a show of disapproval of President Trump's emergency declaration last week.
At that moment, President Trump declared a national emergency to help fund portions of a border wall project.
A release from rally organizers says "This is a power grab that violates the will of the people and our constitution. The people have spoken on this matter. We are calling on Republicans to join Democrats in Congress to defend our system of checks and balances and Constitution. Congress cannot let the President shred the Constitution of the United States."
The rally will be held from noon until 12:30 p.m. at the gazebo on the green in downtown Warren.
