Police said that a teen was accidentally shot and killed early Saturday morning in New Castle.
According to officials, when they arrived on scene at a home in the 400 block of North Liberty Street, they found 15-year-old Zach Mulford of New Castle lying on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Officers said that a friend of Mulford's was still at the home trying to do CPR, but was unsuccessful.
Police later learned through an investigation that Mulford and his friend went to the home to hang out with friends.
According to authorities, when Mulford and his friend knocked on the door, 19-year-old Kyle Harris answered the door holding a gun.
Police said when Harris realized who the boys knocking were, he lowered the gun and let them inside.
Harris then removed the magazine from the gun and started to clear the chamber, when the gun went off and a bullet hit Mulford, said police.
Officers reported that Harris then ran from the home.
He later turned himself into New Castle police. A check of the weapon showed that it was stolen.
Harris has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and receiving stolen property.
