A 23-year-old man remains jailed without bond after Warren Police say he led them on a chase through the city that included jumping out of a moving car.

Police say they began following the Buick Century along Wick Street Sunday evening after learning it had a license plate from another vehicle.

According to the police report, when the speeding Buick ran a stop sign at Burton Street and Pine Avenue, officers began the chase.

Police say the car drove around traffic stopped a light at Fulton and Main Avenue until the car ran off the road.

That's when police say the driver bailed out of the car and began to run.

The car, now driverless, ran into some trees along Main Avenue near the Mahoning River.

A woman who was in the car told police that the driver's name was Kardell Lowery.

After a foot chase, police caught Lowery when he tripped while trying to jump over a fence.

Lowery told police that he ran because there were several warrants for his arrest.

The report confirmed Lowery's claim, saying that there were eight warrants issued for his arrest since 2014 for failing to appear in Warren Municipal Court for crimes including theft, drugs, intoxication, and robbery.

During his video arraignment on Monday, Lowery pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under suspension, failing to stop at a stop sign, and failing to comply with the order of a police officer.
