The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport will be getting more than a half million dollar grant.

Congressman Tim Ryan, Ohio-13, announced the $536,490 federal grant Monday from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

"When we invest in our infrastructures, we are investing in our economy and our community," Ryan said.

Ryan said that these repairs will ensure that operations continue to run efficiently and safely for everyone who works and travels through the airport.

"This is much-needed work at the airport that will benefit not only our general air traffic but will assist the military flights out the Youngstown Air Reserve Station," said John Moliterno, Executive Director of the Western Reserve Port Authority.

The grant will fund the following projects:

  • Reconstructing the existing Taxiway J1 pavement
  • Reconstructing the existing apron pavement
  • Replacing the runway 14/32 precision approach path indicators
  • Installing nine replacement airfield guidance sign fixtures to enhance aircraft visual guidance and airfield operations
