A major highway in Brookfield shut down after a fatal crash is open again.
State Route 7 was closed between State Route 82 and U.S. 62 from 3 p.m. Tuesday until 2 a.m. Wednesday while state troopers investigated an accident that claimed the life of 48-year-old Thomas Stefek, Jr., of Poland.
Troopers say Stefek was driving a utility truck that clipped a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction on Route 7 near Cherry Street.
Stefek's truck went off the road and struck a utility pole, bringing down live wires.
Stefek was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a Hermitage man, was not injured.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol does not believe impairment was involved and are investigating if it was a medical issue.
