The first day of the Canfield Fair was met with heavy rains and gusty winds Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

According to Meteorologist Eric Wilhelm, heavy storms are moving through several parts of the Valley, with rain coming down in buckets in some parts of Mercer and Mahoning counties.

A severe thunderstorm warning is currently issued for Lawrence County.

Meteorologist Andrew DiPaolo was in the middle of the action at the fair, where people were trying to avoid the storms and said that there have been reports of lightning, so make sure to ditch that umbrella.

Also, operators will not be letting anyone on rides until at least 8 pm.

The rains will be moving through the area for the next few hours, so if you are headed to the fair, be wary that there will be more rain before the storms cease.

Minor street flooding is a possibility as well as more flooding in areas with poor draining.

However, if you are heading to the fair tomorrow, it should be a much calmer day with only a chance of some sprinkles in the morning with a high of 75 degrees.

Friday so far has no chances of rain with a high of  82 degrees, and the forecast looks like it will be staying out of the 90s for now.
