A crisis team was on hand Wednesday as students arrived at Youngstown's Chaney High School to begin the new year of classes.
Grief counselors were available for students and teachers who may need to talk about Tuesday's shooting death of 18-year-old Sean Bell.
“It's a really, really tragic event,” said Youngstown Schools CEO Kris Mohip. “These things affect families, communities, and schools.”
Police say they believe robbery may have been the motive behind the shooting death of Bell, who recently graduated from Chaney and Choffin Career Center.
Twenty-one-year-old Myckle Hughes of Campbell was in the Mahoning County jail in connection with the murder on Wednesday awaiting arraignment.
Bell's body was found after fire rescue and an ambulance crews were called out to the 2300 block of Oak Street Extension just after 5 a.m. Tuesday after a reported fatal traffic accident.
Further investigation by police determined that Bell had been shot.
