The Youngstown Fire Department blocked off MLK Boulevard Sunday night after responding to a fire at the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.
It turned out that the fire broke out in an air conditioning unit at around 10:30 p.m.
No one was injured. An electrician was called in to make repairs.
The road was closed until fire trucks were able to clear the scene.
Mission officials are in the midst of an effort to raise $3 million to build a new facility on Youngstown's South Side.
The current mission building was built in 1930 as a YMCA for African Americans.
It has been the mission's home since 1972.
