The state of Ohio has awarded five Advanced Manufacturing Program (AMP) Grants to non-profit companies and universities across the state, including the Youngstown Business Incubator.

YBI will be receiving a grant of $451,300.

The Youngstown Business Incubator will partner with GE Additive, Vallourec Star, LP, Humtown Products, JuggerBot 3D LLC, Printerworks LLC, Pamton 3D Commercial Printing, Freshmade 3D and others to demonstrate how manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing and sensors enable Ohio small and medium-sized manufacturing companies to become more efficient.

The project will focus on enabling increased use of the additive manufacturing and sensor technologies in the domestic metal casting industry.

The group will provide periodic reports on progress and demonstrations as appropriate to complete the project within two years.

AMP Grants are awarded annually through a competitive application process.

Applicants are chosen based upon demonstration of innovative manufacturing services or projects. AMP Grant awardees are required to match the state funding they receive.

"Manufacturing is an integral part of job creation in Ohio," said David Goodman, Director of Ohio Development Services Agency. "We are committed to helping this industry grow."
