Dozens of concerned people in Brookfield protested injection wells at the Village Green on Friday afternoon.

They are trying to stop five injection wells from coming into areas they said are too close to home.

One of the injection well sites is off of State Route 7, not far from the Wyngate Mobile Home Park.

At one time, the land was filled with trees and wildlife.

Many residents are now concerned about deforestation.

"It's unfortunate that these animals, the wildlife around here have less and less of an area to thrive in," said concerned citizen, Michelle Maggio of Brookfield.

Other people are concerned about earthquakes caused by the injection wells.

Youngstown experienced a 4.0 magnitude quake in 2011 thanks to an injection well that has since closed.

"We need to stop this now before we become like Oklahoma that is having a lot of man-made earthquakes because of injection wells and fracking," said Jane Spies, co-founder of FrackFree America.
