The right lane of Interstate 76 westbound in North Jackson is closed as crews from ODOT clean up after a late night semi truck fire on Tuesday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday that it could take hours for the lane to open.
Around 11:45, police got the call that the truck's trailer wheels had caught fire between Interstate 80 and North Bailey Road.
The driver, who was hauling plastic, was able to detach the cab from the flaming trailer and come out uninjured.
OSP shut down both lanes in the area as fire crews from Jackson and Milton Townships put out the fire.
During that time, traffic became gridlocked for about an hour until vehicles were directed onto the turnpike.
Officials say the cause of the fire is thought to be a technical issue with the brakes or tires.
