A Cincinnati Company is recalling 61,538 pounds of beef ravioli products sold at Walmart stores due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Friday that the Wornick Company disclosed that their Sam's Choice Asian Style Beef Wonton Ravioli may contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The problem was discovered when the company received notification from an ingredient supplier that the beef ravioli the company received and used in the recalled products potentially contained undeclared milk.
The beef wonton ravioli was produced on Feb. 22, 2017, and March 28, 2017.
The recall involves 14.5-oz. plastic bowl packages with “BEST IF USED BY” dates of Feb. 22, 2018, and Mar. 28, 2018.
The products are printed with establishment number “EST. 19076” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
The USDA classifies the health risk associated with this recall as "High".
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Those who purchased the ravioli are urged not to consume it, but throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
