Two New Castle men could face life in prison if convicted of using a Grove City girl as part of an alleged sex trafficking scheme.
Ronald Hartman, 27, and David Monrean, 24, have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh.
Prosecutors say Hartman took pictures of a girl under the age of 18 as she was being sexually exploited, then posted the images on an online classified advertisement site this past August.
The U.S. Attorney says Hartman and Monrean took the girl from Grove City to Youngstown to make money by having her engage in prostitution.
The two face charges of production of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, interstate transportation of a minor for purpose of engaging in unlawful sexual activity, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, and sex trafficking of a child.
Hartman, who is currently jailed in Pittsburgh, could face a maximum total sentence of life imprisonment, and a fine of $1 million.
If Monrean is convicted, he could also be sentenced to life in prison and $750,000 fine. Monrean is in the Lawrence County jail.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Grove City Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
