Youngstown police detectives are still investigating the circumstances behind a shooting on the West Side that sent one man to the hospital.
Police say Adam Perkins was shot when he appeared in the kitchen of a home on Imperial Street.
The homeowner, Yalanda Whipple, told police she was in her bedroom when she heard her two children cry out with alarm.
Whipple says she grabbed a gun from under her pillow, and went to the kitchen where she was confronted by a man dressed in black. She then opened fire.
The man ran from the house. A short time later, Perkins was found in a parking lot on Tyrell Street with a gunshot wound of the stomach.
He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital where he is recovering after surgery.
Police say so far no charges have been filed, but the investigation is continuing.
