Donald Trump is taking to social media to thank residents of Mahoning County who switched ballots to vote for him during the spring primary election.
In his post on Facebook and Twitter, Trump shares a CNN story about Mahoning County's voting actions in March.
Trump says "THANK YOU Mahoning County, Ohio! 6,171 registered Democrats switched to register and vote Republican in the primaries. Join us, and TOGETHER- WE WILL MAKE AMERICA SAFE AND GREAT AGAIN!"
According to Mahoning County Republican Party Chair Mark Munroe, there are now 21,000 new Republican voters in Mahoning County.
A number he says is "absolutely stunning."
"There is an awful lot of excitement and enthusiasm for Donald Trump in the Mahoning Valley," Munroe told WFMJ Anchor Leslie Barrett at the Republican National Convention. "It's incredible."
Munroe says convention goers are going to leave the RNC united to win the election in November.
However, not everyone is on board with Munroe's theory.
One person who won't be seen inside Quicken Loans Arena this week is Ohio Governor and former GOP presidential prospect, John Kasich.
Kasich told NBC's Lester Holt in an interview Monday that he can't possibly endorse Trump unless he takes back all he's said during his campaign trail.
“He'd have to change everything that he says," said Holt. "We can't be attacking Muslims and Hispanics, and trying to shut down trade, and not caring about the debt. Those are all problems for me."
Kasich is holding his own events in Cleveland throughout the week, separate from the RNC.
