Goshen Police have charged a West Branch High School student for allegedly posting a message on social media threatening to bring a gun to class and "shoot up the school."
Police Chief Steven McDaniel says the boy was taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of aggravated menacing and inducing panic.
Interim Superintendent Scott Weingart tells 21 News that the school resource officer from the Goshen Police department was contacted after 8 p.m. Wednesday when school officials became aware of a Facebook message.
According to Weingart, classes were held on Thursday, but he assured parents that the student would not be in school.
Weingart says students were reminded on Thursday about the risks posed by posting rumors on social media.
