With less than two weeks before Ohio's primary election, residents who are voting absentee are busy casting their ballots.

For residents at Signature HealthCARE in Warren, that meant voting from the comfort of their own home on Thursday with some help from the Trumbull County Board of Elections.

"I always vote. I figure, if you don't vote, you don't get nothing," said John Ravizee of Warren.

"If we don't vote, I mean, who knows what is going to happen," said Ronnie Felts.

According to the Trumbull County Board of Elections, participation among absentee voters appears to be up compared to absentee voter turnout from the general election.

"The presidential, that's the big one everyone wants to be involved in and wants to take part in. So, it is sort of, it is sort of prime for them and they are excited. They want to get out there and be involved and have a say," said Jake Schaefer with the Trumbull County Board of Elections.

During the primary election season, members of the Trumbull County Board of Elections will visit 20 assisted living and nursing facilities, helping roughly 250 people cast their absentee ballot.

"This is a generation who loves their civic duty and you know, it is something they were raised on. Voting was one of the things you could do as an American. So, we want to definitely let them continue to do that even though they are not in their homes," said Schaefer.
