A Brookfield Township man is in custody after police say he shot his girlfriend multiple times.

Marvin Jules, 33, called a 9-1-1 dispatcher Monday morning for help. During the call Jules tells the dispatcher "I got jealous and I shot her.".

Lynda Campbell was found shot inside her 8000 block Ulp Street home. Police say she suffered gunshot wounds to her chest. A recent update from family indicates she's out of surgery at St. E's, but her official condition remains unknown. Campbell is believed to be in her early 50's.

Jules told the dispatcher he threw his gun into a nearby field before running to the Orange Village nursing home parking lot off Addisson Road, where he was eventually arrested.

After a day long search, the weapon was finally found in a field next to the home with the help of the Tri-County Metal Detecting club. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Brookfield police and Warren police's K-9 unit worked together using thermal imaging to try and track down the weapon throughout the day.

Neighbors tell 21 News they were aware of domestic disputes between the couple in the past.

Police hope Campbell can make a full recovery as they try to determine what lead up to the violence inside her home.

"We're looking for anything that kind of tells us what more happened in there, we're hoping that she recovers and she's able to talk to us and tell us a little bit more."
