Fire departments from surrounding communities were called out Monday afternoon to battle a barn fire in North Bloomfield.

A caller to Trumbull 9-1-1 reported seeing flames coming from a barn near a home on the 1800 block of Kinsman Road NW shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Crews arriving on the scene reported that the road was becoming a sheet of ice, and asked the Ohio Department of Transportation to dispatch a truck.

First responders also asked that eastbound traffic on State Route 87 be shut down east of Route 45.

No one was reported to be inside the barn, which a witness says is close to the house. 

Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to the home.

Fire departments from Geauga and Ashtabula Counties were contacted for assistance.
