Before the first kickoff, even before a team was chosen, the Fall Experimental Football League announced they will not have a team in the Mahoning Valley for the 2015 season.

The announcement was made via an email Monday morning from by Jordan Taylor, Vice President, HWS Baseball, which owns the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and had planned to use Eastwood Field as the home field for the new team.

Taylor did not give a specific reason for the decision. According to the email, "Due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances at the league level, the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL) will no longer have a team in the Mahoning Valley for the 2015 season."

When originally announced earlier in the summer, the team announced that it was set to play three home games beginning October 3.

“We are extremely disappointed that the FXFL has made the decision to cease operation of the Mahoning Valley Brawlers,” said Taylor.

An email was sent out to interested players changing the original try-out date to this past Sunday.

Another email was sent to prospects last Friday canceling the try-out.

“Our organization has worked extremely hard over the last six months to develop and promote this new and exciting venture and we were confident that the Brawlers would have been successful in this market based on the immediate support we received from sponsors and the community,” said Taylor

All purchased tickets will be refunded at the Mahoning Valley Scrappers front office beginning Thursday, October 1 at 10:00 am.
