Poland and Struthers ranked among 50 safest Ohio cities

Poland and Struthers have cracked the 2015 list of SafeWise's 50 safest cities in Ohio.
Poland was ranked at #4 on the list, and Struthers came in at #46.
The SafeWise list, featuring Bryan, Madeira, and Olmsted Falls in its top three slots, was created using FBI violent and property crime statistics from 2013. The raw statistics were normalized to the chance of them happening per 1,000 people.
Poland averages 0.24 violent crimes per 1,000 citizens and 4.14 property crimes per 1,000. Meanwhile, Struthers averages 1.04 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 15.87 property crimes over the same sample.
All the communities on the list had to have a population greater than 8,000 to be considered a "city" by SafeWise.
No other Valley communities were listed in the top 50.
The makers of the list, SafeWise, describe themselves as a community-focused safety and awareness organization.
