Bus trip to take Mahoning Republicans to Kasich's presidential candidacy announcement

Mahoning County Republicans will make their way to Columbus on Tuesday in hopes of supporting Governor John Kasich as he announces his bid for a presidential candidacy.
The Mahoning County GOP is sponsoring a bus trip to Ohio State University for Kasich's big announcement, in hopes of bringing the Valley's support to Kasich.
The Vice Chairperson of the County Republican Party, Tracey Winbush, is inviting supporters to join them on a bus trip to Columbus, saying it's an opportunity to see history in the making. .
"The bus trip is an opportunity for the future," said Winbush. "How often do you get to go see announcements for someone who is running fro the presidency of the United States who has a serious constituency who can actually make it. This is history."
The bus will leave from the Republican Party Headquarters on Route 224 in Boardman at 6:30 in the morning on Tuesday.
Although 15 hopefuls have already announced their bid for the Republican Presidential nomination, Mark Munroe, the Mahoning County Republican Party Chairman believes Governor Kasich will have no problem becoming the front runner, once people get to know what he has done for Ohio.
"You know Bill Clinton likes to talk about the balanced budgets he had when he was president. You know it was John Kasich as Chairman of the House Budget Committee who engineered those balanced budgets," explains Munroe. "He knows how to deal with a federal budget. You saw what he did for Ohio. We now have a 2 billion dollar surplus in the rainy day fund. He's been good for Ohio, he'll be good for the country."
The cost of the bus trip is $50 per person and includes refreshments and a T-shirt. Those who go on the trip will also need to take lunch money.
However, Munroe said anyone that's struggling financially may be able to receive assistance through the Party Headquarters.
"If somebody needs help financially they are welcome to come on board. Give us a call at GOP headquarters. We have seats available, give us a call we want to fill that bus, come down and join us," says Munroe.
Munroe says there are still seats available for the trip and asks that anyone who is interested call the Mahoning County Republican Party Headquarters at 330-629-7006.
Although, supporters of Kasich won't be the only ones traveling to Columbus for the big announcement.
Some local unions, including members who work at Youngstown Developmental Center, tell 21 News they plan to protest in Columbus with signs making it clear that they believe Kasich is bad for Ohio and that he would be horrible for the United States.
After his expected presidential candidacy announcement, Kasich is set to appear at town hall meetings in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Iowa.
