The look of Cardinal Mooney high school will soon be completely different.

The school held a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovations Thursday morning.

The top to bottom renovation will get underway next week to replace the entire roof and then more projects will begin in the summer.

Father Gerald DeLucia, President of Cardinal Mooney, says,"The whole front section will be torn down.  We'll have a new façade, new windows, floors and ceilings. It's a pretty extensive renovation that's going to happen."

Much of the funding came from a donation from Denise DeBartolo-York and Eddie DeBartolo Jr.

Bishop George Murry, adds "A portion of the DeBartolo money will go towards scholarships and tuition assistance so other students who might have financial difficulty will be able to come here."

"Nobody is going to be around forever," says De-Bartolo-York.. "I want these kids in this neighborhood, the underserved children, to be able to get a quality education.  My brother and I seriously know how we want our legacy to stand, the things we do and the good we do and the difference we make in the lives of children."

The entire project will take around 2 to 3 years to be completed.
