After serving Trumbull County for 35 years, Probate Judge Thomas Swift is retiring.

However, the 72-year-old judge is not retiring by choice. Ohio law requires judges who reach the age of 70 to finish their careers in the courtroom as an elected judge.

Swift's career includes many notable achievements. He served on an Ohio Supreme Court panel that re-wrote guardianship laws and he's been a strong advocate for adoptions.

"This has been a career that I love. They say if you love your job, you never work a day in your life, and that's really how I feel," Swift said.

Swift plans to remain active in his retirement as a visiting judge.
