Mill Creek MetroParks has once again opened the Lily Pond to ice skaters.

Park officials tells 21 News that the pond's surface has become sufficiently frozen to allow people to safely skate beginning today (Friday) from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

Hours for supervised skating this weekend will be Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am through 6:00 pm.

Benches and a fire pit will be provided for the convenience of those not hitting the ice or those who need to rest or warm up.

Skaters should bring their own skates since no skate rental is available.

If conditions allow, supervised skating will continue next weekend on Friday, February from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and will continue on Fridays from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm through February 22.

Unsupervised skating is permitted during normal MetroParks hours.

MetroParks officials say that any time that the ice is deemed unsafe for use it will be closed.
