Discussions are still under way to merge the Trumbull County Dog Pound with an organization that specializes in finding homes for pets.

The county delivered its final offer to The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County this month.

County leaders believe the leagues location off Route 193 could help grow the number of dog adoptions.

"It's one of a kind in the whole country. It's a great place for animals. It's in a convenient spot also, right along the highway " said Trumbull County Commissioner Frank Fuda.

If the two groups reach an agreement, the county would pay $150,000 upfront for the merger and $65,000 to cover expenses.
