The man who created a well known massive metal sculpture along state Route 46 has died.

Sidney Rackoff, who created "The Steelworker," died Sunday in Beechwood, where he lived.

His 20 foot tall creation has stood at the Niles Iron and Metal's scrap yard for two decades.

Rackoff, a former Youngstown Sheet and Tube steel worker finished the sculpture in 1993 using scrap metal found in the yard. Sidney Rackoff was 95-years-old.
