A large concrete wall that was once a target for graffiti artists along Summit Street in Warren, is now the canvas of another artist.

Thomas Morgan has completed his “Sleeping Giant” mural at the site of the former Mahoningside Power Plant. The work depicts a man reclining on his side.

Out of 25 submissions, the concept placed first in the popular vote and was selected by the jury for the project organized by the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership.

The project is meant to restore a vacant space using public art as a tool to remediate blight. The city of Warren has used over $1-million over the past decade to remediate the brownfield site.
