COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's governor has ordered flags flown at half-staff Thursday, the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States.
Gov. John Kasich also asks that Ohioans observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. (EDT), the time when the first plane flew into the World Trade Center in New York. The attacks claimed nearly 3,000 lives.
His office says flags on public buildings and grounds should be at half-staff from sunrise until sunset Thursday.
In a resolution, Kasich urges Ohioans to use the day to both honor victims and pay tribute to the men and women in the military and to first responders.
