YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - At a time when cuts are being made to educational programming in Ohio schools, Youngstown Christian School is expanding its services.
This fall, the school will open The Lewis School for Gifted Learning Potential.
The school will partner with businesses, like Youngstown State University and The Roger & Gloria Jones
Children's Center for Science & Technology to educate our Valley's gifted students, who experts say are often under served.
"Ohio mandates that you identify, they don't mandate that you service. So it's really about the schools coming up with their own funding and resources to service students and if that's not available, there is nothing for that student," said Sara Reichard, The Lewis School for Gifted Learning Potential.
The new school will accommodate up to 40 students in grades three through six.
Over the next few years, Youngstown Christian hopes to expand its services to seventh and eighth grade students.
