GIRARD, Ohio - Girard police are charging eight people in connection with an investigation into reports of underage drinking parties at a home owned by a city police officer.

Police Chief Jeff Palmer tells 21 News that four 18-year-old adults face misdemeanor charges, and four teens will be prosecuted in juvenile court.

Police say a fifth adult could also be charged in the case.

Patrolman Larry Neely was placed on paid administrative leave after officers found a gathering of people inside the garage family room of Neely's Mosier Road home. Empty beer cans and marijuana were found at the scene.

Police say the parties have been going on for six to eight months. The investigation was started after receiving complaints from neighbors.

Patrolman Neely remains on leave pending an disciplinary hearing.
