Youngstown woman wants man who made her a paralytic to turn himself in
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Tei'osha Taylor is finally home after being paralyzed in a car crash in June. Now she's making a public plea to the man she says is responsible, and asking that he do the right thing, and turn himself in.
"If you feel sorry for me, and you feel like you did nothing wrong, you should have no reason to be out here hiding."
Taylor of Youngstown, wants one time friend, 20-year-old Charles Allen to turn himself in to police.
In September, Allen was indicted by a Mahoning County Grand Jury on a charge with aggravated vehicular assault, and police say Taylor was his victim.
Her life was dramatically altered on June 5th, 2013.
That's when the car she was riding in crashed on Indianola Avenue, paralyzing her.
"The car flipped over 4 times, and it hit 3 trees," Taylor said.
For the 20-year-old victim, the crash was no simple accident, because Allen, who was driving the car, allegedly floored it when police attempted to pull him over.
"I looked at him like, just let me out of the car. As soon as I said that it was like the light had just turned green, and he just took off down Indianola."
With the car still moving Allen jumped from the vehicle, leaving his passenger, Taylor, helpless in the speeding car.
The impact of the crash left her with a fractured neck and spinal cord injury. She spent 5 months in 3 different hospitals.
"I flat lined 2 times, and I came back to life."
Taylor's family is outraged, including her cousin Brittany Mitchell. They say Allen who's wanted by police for failing to appear in court on the crime, is bold enough to post on Facebook and Instagram about his social life, and friends of the victim's family have spotted him driving around town, but he has failed to turn himself in.
"You didn't care about her or nothing, you left her to die, and saved yourself, no remorse, nothing," Mitchell said.
