SHARON, Pennsylvania- A Sharon Regional Health System employee is in critical condition after being stabbed Sunday afternoon.
 
According to a press release from Sharon Regional Health System, Linda Clark of Hubbard, a greeter in its emergency department, was the victim of a stabbing incident at 2:23 p.m. Sunday while at work.
 
The hospital system said that the attack came without warning and was an isolated incident initiated by an individual who had been recently discharged from the emergency department.
 
Clark received a stab wound to the neck, was immediately treated by the emergency department staff, and is currently in surgery in critical condition, according to the news release.
 
The individual was apprehended immediately without incident by the security staff at Sharon Regional and is in custody of the Sharon Police Department.
 
Sharon Regional has extra security on hand and is fully operational.
 
"I want to assure the public, our patients, and our employees that the environment at Sharon Regional is safe, and we will take every step available to us to insure that an incident of this type never happens again," said John R. "Jack" Janoso, Jr., president and CEO. "The thoughts and prayers of our entire Sharon Regional team are extended to the Clark family."

Ed Newmeyer of Sharon Regional told 21 News that as far as he knows, there was no personal connection between the suspect and the victim.
