HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio - State troopers are investigating a five-vehicle accident involving a garbage truck Thursday.
Officials say that around 1:30 p.m. an Allied Waste garbage truck, driven by Adam Slater, 20, failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of State Route 82 and Howland-Wilson Road.
The truck struck one vehicle in the rear, triggering a chain reaction with three other vehicles.
Eight victims, including Slater, were transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital with minor injures.
Slater was issued a citation for failure to maintain an assured clear distance.
