Police looking for suspects in apparent Craigslist scam
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Police are searching for suspects in an apparent Craigslist scam that lured would-be robbery victims to vacant houses in Warren.
In separate incidents on Sunday, two Pennsylvania residents traveled to Warren in response to the same web-page ad for a large screen television.
"Both victims were from out of state, so they had no idea the area they were coming into. But again, they called the subject twice. There was never a TV. Both victims were approached by two black males," said Warren Police Detective Sergeant Jeff Cole.
Even though one of the victims was held at gun point, no one was injured and the suspects fled without getting any money.
The Craigslist web site urges users to meet in a public place, rather than someone's residence.
