Scrappers to honor Luke Holko

NILES, Ohio - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers are honoring the young boy who was hit in the head with a ball at a game last season.
The special Luke Holko Night, sponsored by 21 WFMJ, will give the community a chance to see how well the little boy is doing.
It's been almost a year since Luke Holko was hit in the head by a foul ball at a Scrappers game. In that time, the little boy has fought his way from the hospital bed back to the baseball field.
After 11 months of surgery, therapy, recovery and setbacks five-year-old Luke Holko is about to live every young boy's dream and become an honorary member of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
This Sunday, August 8th, Luke will throw out the first pitch at the game against the Aberdeen Ironbirds. He received his official jersey on Monday and he'll have his own baseball card in the team set given to the first 1,000 fans at Sunday's game.
His parents Nicole and Chad say the fact that Luke is able to participate in this way shows how far he's come since the accident.
Luke still has some issues with balance and speech but for the most part he's just like any other five-year-old a little shy in front of all the cameras but full of life and energy at home.
The Holko's say the fundraiser will also give them a chance to say thank you to the community for all the support.
The Scrappers are suggesting you get advanced tickets for the game. Two dollars and 50 cents of every ticket purchased with a special flyer will go to the Luke Holko fund. Click here to downloand the flyer.
